Innovation Insights Recommended Consulting Engagement

Step 1: KAI Assessment

A typical Innovation Insights consulting engagement starts with a KAI assessment of a company's or organization's strategy team. A KAI (Kirton Adaption-Innovation) assessment provides information regarding how the team members and the collective team solves problems. Ideally, a strategy team will have a diversity of KAI index scores. As with other Industrial/Organizational assessment instruments, there is not a right or wrong KAI index score. An individual's index shows if he or she is an Adaptive problem solver (strives to make things better) or an Innovative problem solver (strives to make things different). Both KAI types are needed in an effective organization. Innovation Insights has found that KAI is a better instrument than either Myers-Briggs or DISC in determining team effectiveness in defining and implementing a company's or organization's strategy.

Step 2: Blue Ocean Strategy Workshop

Innovation Insights provides 1, 2 and 3-day workshops for its clients to learn the tools and methodologies that "Make Blue Ocean Strategy Work". These tools have been developed and refined by Innovation Insights and other members of the Value Innovation Consultancy Consortium over the past ten years and have proven effective in assisting a variety of companies and organizations (from Fortune 500 companies to start-ups) develop and implement their Blue Ocean Strategy. These workshops provide practical tools for a company to understand how KAI impacts strategy development, its Value Chain, identify the Most Important Customer (MIC) in the Value Chain, identify latent needs of the MIC, identify and rank-order the latent need elements, create Value Curves showing the organization's "As-Is" value it is providing the MIC for each element, identify the "To-Be" value it wishes to target for each element, and begin the steps to implement the strategy to reach its "To-Be" Blue Ocean opportunities.

Step 3: Follow Innovation Insights 10 Step Blue Ocean Strategy/Value Innovation Process

Innovation Insights will work with a company or organization throughout the 10-step process to "Make Blue Ocean Strategy Work". A client company has several options: Innovation Insights can take the lead in all 10 steps, or play more of a supporting role with the client taking the lead in all or selected steps. Once the "As-Is" and "To-Be" value and strategic directions have been defined, Innovation Insights can continue to play a role in the company's or organization's implementation phase (Step 10) of their Blue Ocean Strategy if the client desires.
